“Being commissioned to undertake any location photography shoot is always very rewarding and so when our associate Richard Stott got in touch with us to photograph Esse’s new wood burning stove collection at a rural farm in Barnoldswick we were thrilled!”

On this particular shoot we used a farmhouse local to Esse HQ in Baroldswick, just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As with any job it had its challenges and on the day of the job we woke up to a considerable amount of snow! However as professionals we carried on and made the 2 hour journey from Sheffield to the rural location and finally arrived at a beautiful house on a farm.

We have been photographing Esses products now for around 10 years and have enjoyed covering a wide variety of location and set build shoots for them, back when we started it was all shot on film but now we have moved into digital photography we can achieve a lot more in terms of tweaking the image. Mark our photographer still tries, where he can to stick to his original lessons of over 25 years ago when he started out as a young photographer and strives to get as much right ‘down the camera’ as possible.

“Archways and the natural stone were used to frame the product”
Each job has many different requirements including both location and props, as experienced photographers we often like to assist our clients with both of these to ensure we all produce images that we can be proud of. This particular commercial & product photography shoot required a rustic location and not too much fuss, the aim was to create a cosy and moody image that showed of the products features and elegant design.

The photo’s of the Esse products will be used for PR, Web and advertising campaigns throughout Yorkshire, the UK and possibly worldwide.

The time frame is very short between completion and handover so flexibility and communication is key with all parties concerned and Formm have been able to facilitate easy access and help from Formm's clients.

Using a combination of lighting, complex retouching and "the golden hour" we have produced some work we are extremely proud of in the past few years. The technique we use to create these images transforms cold, dull shots, into warm, vibrant images that are worthy of the technical and hard work that goes into creating these amazing spaces.
Take a look at some before and after shots!
