Cricket nets opened by John Holder at Birkdale School

Friday 29th June saw the new cricket net’s open at local Sheffield private school, Birkdale, mc photography were asked to come from of their Sheffield studio and attend. We were asked to cover Birkdale’s photography of the event on location at Castle Dyke Sports Fields and capture the official opening and exciting activities that were taking place that afternoon.
John Holder, a renowned professional cricketer who played for Hampshire and become an international umpire was the special guest at the event, where he officially opened the new nets at Birkdale School, Castle Dyke Campus. The plaque was unveiled & ribbon cut and then the brisk-right-armer went onto coaching the children, giving them tips to improve their game.
Mark Crapper who is a well known photographer in Sheffield has worked for Birkdale school over the years and often covers the professional photography for the school covering events such as this one and also the school plays, these are usually on location. The photos help to promote the school through pr and advertising. We also recently visited the school prior to the cricket nets opening at Castle Dyke to undertake some advertising and prospectus photography for use on their website banners.
Photography for events such as this one tends to be fast paced and also more of an observational type of photography in comparison to the product photography that was mentioned in our previous blog. We photographed the children at Birkdale school, Sheffield playing the game in the new nets, what a great facility to have at a school! Watch out and some of these youngsters could be playing professional cricket for Yorkshire!
The time frame is very short between completion and handover so flexibility and communication is key with all parties concerned and Formm have been able to facilitate easy access and help from Formm's clients.
Using a combination of lighting, complex retouching and "the golden hour" we have produced some work we are extremely proud of in the past few years. The technique we use to create these images transforms cold, dull shots, into warm, vibrant images that are worthy of the technical and hard work that goes into creating these amazing spaces.

We've had some extreme weather this year in the UK with the Beast from the East battering us early on in the year, but the summer we usually dont get in the UK has been very kind to us.
With the lovely warm weather it gives us a great chance to get out into the sun and shoot!
Quicktrack are a company that manufacture apparatus to wheel align anything from cars to large lorries, meaning a lot of their product is rather large.
